Saadiya, the Gaun of the Jewish Academy in Surah

Saadiya was a scholar of Jewish law and an expert not only in the Hebrew Bible, but also oral traditions. Along with his expertise in law, Saadiya was also a leading exponent of linguistics. He produced a much-used Arabic translation of the Hebrew Bible and the earliest surviving work of Hebrew grammar.
