Games research is often more informal than in other areas of science. Researchers try to find the core part of the fun of a game, even if it's just for five minutes. A lot of that discovery and understanding user needs can be applied to games. There probably is some context about what people are playing in whac they're trying to create. But a lot of that fundamental research isn't relevant in this case. We talked about one challenge of tef researches four years ago - how do we get from here to there? And I wonder if the future has any similar challenges or opportunities as well!
