Why Can't We Just Eat Protein?

The body is able to utilize protein as an energy source. Proteins are used but they need to be modified first. They insert various parts of that process. Your body, if it has proteins, carbs and fats in the same meal, generally won't use protein for a lot of energy. It'll use carbohydrates and fats more readily.
