The Body's Role in Trauma
A story is essentially all of the narrative and noise around the facts, around the truth. So when we have things that happen to us in our life, most of the time what we do is we create a story around it. And this all plays out through the movement of the body. We can watch somebody move and a story about their childhood plays through the way that they move their hands. A story about how their parents were raised gets passed on and they take it on for themselves. The way they walk through the room reveals the ancestral stories, the mythologies that were passed down. They get to see themselves on video with all of this stuff playing out.
