The UK Food Supply Chain Is in a Disarray
We will always be a net importer of food, but we'll be having to import more food long-term. This is probably the most challenging time for anybody who's working in the food industry and by that I mean farmers right through to retailers. Nobody in living memory will have had to deal with this situation where their own costs have risen sharply. The reason why they're leaving is because they cannot get a price, which is sustainable. And because they can't get that price, they're leaving eggs. Greenhouses are being closed. We're seeing forchards being cut down. This is the reality.
