Christophe's Story

In the 17th century, French colonizers and slave owners threw lavish costume parties. Enslaved people created their own counter-celebration with their own culture and music. When slavery was abolished, carnival became a fusion of the two traditions. Christophe had reached out to local artists he admired but many of his requests went on answered.
