The Impossibility of Maximizing in the Short Term

I was struck how you still raised that venture round even though a week later you sold it to Facebook. I think ultimately it was realizing that the Valley is a very small place and while we could have found some way of backing out, "life is long" So much of our growth came from having the resources of saying, hey, our engineering team is 60 people yesterday. We had struggled for years to actually hire out a team as quickly as we needed to.
