"This has been studied very carefully. It never happens, right? It doesn't happen," says Dr. Gabon Marte. Professor Bruce Alexander did an experiment in the 1970s that's completely changed how we think about addiction and led to amazing changes all over the world. "The story we got in our heads, that addiction is caused primarily or entirely by the chemical hooks, comes from a series of experiments that were done earlier in the 20th century", he adds.
