Anchoring as a Priming Effect

Anchoring is a priming effect which selectively evokes compatible evidence. People adjust less stay closer to the anchor when their mental resources are depleted, either because their memory is loaded with digits or because they are slightly drunk. Insufficient adjustment is also a source of tension between exasperated parents and teenagers who enjoy loud music in their room.
