I'll Read Two Translations of Poems by M Ivanov
M ivanov was arguably the most important russian poet in the world during the last 30 years of his life. I think it's the brevity that is one of the things that makes ivan so difficult to translate. The first translation i'll read, i's from his first collection that he published in exile, called rose a. Was published in 19 31. At 13 lines long, it counts as an epic by baivano standers. It goes like this: "It's good that russia has no czar"
