Are You Seeing Anger or Seeing Someone Looking Sad?
The amygdala is responsible for detecting fear and setting off biological responses to protect the body from danger. When we feel angry, we have increased activity in this part of the brain called the amygdala. But by naming the emotion, but naming someone else's emotion, a person may feel less angry or less sad.
