Ep. 107: Where Do Secondary Educators Start with Struggling Students?

Melissa & Lori Love Literacy ™

CHAPTER

Is There Anything You Can Do About It?

One of the things that's really important is for children at secondary school who are reading two to three years om behind ther chronological age. Each child comes with a different learning history and they have different gaps in their learning. It's very important to drill down and find out what the specific needs are for each individual child. And it's important that the whole cohort is a sess because we don't want anybody to fall through the gaps. Some children are very, very good at masking their a lack of reading skills. So one thing we're really hot on with thinking reading is we children. We don't want children actually to be out of class for any longer than is absolutely necessary.
