Jeff Yang: I take your books as trying to understand why and how car dependency came to be so central to American society and to our cities. Autonomous is outlook today as increasing attention is being directed at the potential of automated vehicles. What do you think about that characterization and then overall, what do you think history is telling us about the outlook for autonomous vehicles in our cities?Yang: As a historian my qualifications to talk about the future, if any are open to debate after all I don't know the state of the art technology as well as engineers do not buy a long shot. It can be missed in the fixation with what's going on right now or within the last few years alone
