Is There a Benefit to Using Sodium Bicarbonate in Training?

Sodium bicarbonate induces acute alkalosis. It increases the pH of the blood to a small but physiologically meaningful extent. But repeated use, kind of consistent use throughout a training program didn't seem to enhance training adaptations. Mike Zordo: You're probably just putting yourself in a position where you have to do more work to elicit the same stimulus for those metabolic adaptations that should bolster your ability to sprint over time.
