The Reason We Want Philosophers to Rule
Socrates is interested only in the truth. So, you know, and this is why people will say Socrates prefigures Jesus, of course. And part of the reason we want philosophers to rule is precisely that they don't want to go back into the cave. Right? You want someone like a Socrates, a disinterested philosopher type who would rather be doing anything else other than ruling the city.
