As a disc is thrower, I was already starting to get those stress problems you get in your lower back. We did front squats and I would have done the front squats right after the warm up,. The hyper extensions, then the front squats. And then we'd go heavy. My personal record, the system we were using, it does not sound like much, but it was about 210 pounds. So that's how we worked them in. He is currently working around an injury that prevents him from making much progress in the deadlift. But back extensions seem to be well tolerated.
