In cycle cross, especially when conditions are greasy like this, the line that you choose will change throughout the race. There's kind of a constant acknowledgment that there is no line and an expectation that someone could take a different line around you at all times. i wonder if she didn't expect lucinda to be able to follow and just like wasn't expecting her to like be there and take that line. But that is part of cycle cross courses and racing is, um, understanding there is no a line.
