The Importance of Flattery
Many of us who are in the habit of fawning may also have the habit of throwing around flattery, saying and doing whatever we can to try to make others feel good. Fawning is a strategy and a habit formed in childhood when our survival and well-being depended on our grown-ups taking care of us. It might just be that there are layers of stress, distress, trauma, or a nervous system reaction like fight, flight, freeze, or fawn obscuring your view inward. So it's not because you actually, for reals actually don't know. On some deeper level, of course, you know yourself and you're everything.
