The Five Breath State Process
I was monastic for about five and a half years. I found this obscure reference to the breath that it would shift as it goes in and out of your nose so I thought this was fascinating. When I saw professor Gewertz explaining heart rate variability my brain exploded. It affected my meditations so profoundly that I just went crazy with it and I didn't have any language to explain why this was such a big deal.
