In practice, i think there's pretty good reason to believe that we can see a like, varying response in terms of hypertopy along the length of a given muscle. It just may be due to the mechanics of the exercise. I think excie selection matters a tone. And if you're fatiguing your quads intentionally when you're squatting, it's going to try to distribute that load to other places.
