Is There a Need to Diversify the System?
I don't think that we're ever going to move completely away from the system, but it clearly doesn't work for at least a significant minority of young people. The more traditional schools primarily focus on academic content. But leading modern learning is arguing that there are some broader goals that cut across disciplines. And so, you know, forms should follow function. If we're clear about alternative goals or outcomes beyond just subject matter learning, then we should plan backward to create the structures that would enable that.
