The Five Aggregates of Clinging
In the Sati Patanasuta and also in many other discourses, discourses, the Buddha often uses the phrase, the five aggregates of clinging. So what does this mean? To identify with, to desire, to cling to the aggregates. This is not a superficial teaching. It gets to the heart of how the concept of self is created. The first aggregate is in poly called Rupa; it's often translated as material form or materiality. And so it's the first aggregate of clinging that causes suffering.
