He believed that no one could or would understand what he was going through. So he constructed an always happy facade. The constant battle to hold the heavy weight of that front up, was an impossible task. He describes this in a scene. In ups and downs, i expected myself to be happy and stoked all the time,. That fueled the spiral downwards because i was not meaning up to my own expectation of who i'm supposed to be.
