Hip hinge is where you stand when you're standing upright. The proper hip hinge is where your spine is in a neutral, alligned position and the muscles around the spine are braced to hold the spine in position. And then now, the downward motion of the hip hinge, which is as called a dead lift, or lifting, or picking something off the ground, is where the whole entire upper torso folds down at an angle.
