In 2004, you wrote consensus in philosophy is as hard to obtain as it ever was and decisive arguments are as rare as they ever were. What can be said in defense of philosophy? Given that there hasn't been convergence on most questions, they can't have been convergence on the right answers to most of these questions. Why is it so hard to come to grips with this? And I think my own view is probably something about the difference in the character of the problems we face.
