The Constitution of Athens

Athenaion Politeia
Book • 1891
The Constitution of Athens, also known as Athenaion Politeia, is a work attributed to Aristotle or one of his students.

It describes the development of the Athenian constitution from the earliest times to 403 BC and the operation of the government in the 330s or 320s BC. The work is divided into two parts: the first part deals with the different forms of the constitution, and the second part describes the city's institutions, including citizenship, magistrates, and the courts.

The text was discovered on papyrus rolls in the late 19th century and was edited and translated by Sir Frederic G. Kenyon in 1891.
