Pushed out vs. pulled through in homeschooling choices
Different communities have varying experiences with homeschooling choices. While some white families feel pulled through many options towards homeschooling, some black families feel pushed out and see it as a last resort rather than a first choice. This push and pull dynamic is influenced by the individual's background and available alternatives. Similar concerns exist in private school choices, where the fear of a 'creaming effect' arises, leading to advantaged kids leaving public schools and leaving behind disadvantaged children.
