The principle of strategic presence states that by staying in one position within an organization for a prolonged period, the organization will naturally reorganize around the individual. This principle can be understood through personal contexts, such as traditional family dynamics, where the impact of sustained presence is evident.
If leaders stand in one place long enough, the organization will eventually organize around them. In this episode from 2014, I discuss three contributing factors to strategic presence and how to ensure it doesn't become a problem.
