Genetic modification for worship

An ancient civilization implemented genetic modification to create a worker being by mixing their DNA with that of a slain god, introducing a worship gene in humans to make them seek outside validation and worship the ruling class. This genetic alteration disconnected some of the DNA, enabling control over the population's actions and devotion to authority figures through the manipulation of a gene that could be turned off with the use of a magnetic field, switching individuals from seeking external validation to focusing internally.
