Examining LDL Cholesterol and Statin Medication

Having higher LDL cholesterol is often considered bad, but putting someone on statin medication to lower it, even when their cholesterol is normal, is like giving blood pressure medication to someone with normal blood pressure. It can drop cholesterol too low and cause problems. Statins don't reduce the harmful LDL cholesterol, but instead stop the body from making the beneficial LDL cholesterol. So, even if we're just concerned about the number, it goes against their own mechanism of action. If LDL cholesterol is all bad, why does the body produce it? It doesn't make sense. People in the past survived without statins, so why are they necessary now?
