The speaker reflects on how they were taught survival skills by someone, but never learned how to choose the right path or how to get on board with opportunities. This lack of direction led them to feel lost and stuck, eventually dropping out of college and feeling depressed. It was only when they stumbled upon a new and unconventional way of living that they began to see a different perspective.
