Maximize Outcomes with Targeted Interventions
Current guidelines recommend exercise to prevent falls in older adults, but evidence suggests limited effectiveness, especially in preventing secondary falls. There is a need for more robust interventions, such as supervised weight lifting and tailored exercise programs that account for individual fitness and functional levels. Existing studies using lower-intensity modalities like Therabands and Tai Chi do not sufficiently address fall prevention. A call for more comprehensive research and better intervention methodologies is essential to derive more effective strategies to reduce falls among the elderly.
