Content generated as work for hire during designated work hours with institutional resources is owned entirely by the institution, even in collaborative scenarios involving multiple creators. However, content produced with substantial technical or financial support, such as through grants, requires clear agreements regarding ownership. Typically, these agreements lead to a royalty-free license where both the institution and the faculty creator retain specific rights, allowing the creator to maintain the ability to create derivative works and explore other uses for their content independently.
