NOTE

Understanding Different Types of Stress and How to Address Them

There are five different types of stress: physiological stress, emotional stress, sensory stress, mental stress, and desire stress. Each type is triggered by different events and has a unique impact on our well-being. Physiological stress is caused by lack of exercise or excessive exercise. Emotional stress is caused by draining relationships or feelings of loneliness. Sensory stress is a result of constant exposure to stimuli from phones, nighttime lights, and noisy environments. Mental stress occurs in cognitively demanding environments where we constantly have to learn new things. Desire stress arises from comparing ourselves to others and feeling the need to constantly acquire new things or denying ourselves of enjoyment due to financial concerns. Lastly, there is higher consciousness stress related to life purpose and alignment. To effectively address stress, it is important to identify the specific type of stress that is affecting us and then take targeted actions to alleviate it. Simply going on a vacation or resting physically may not be sufficient if the underlying types of stress are not addressed. Matching our rest to the specific stressors we experience is crucial for true stress reduction.
