The Importance of Optimism in AI
The two Sigma problem showed that tutored students outperformed the average student, leading to a desire for individualized instruction for all. AI is seen as the solution to providing such instruction, leading to optimism about its potential. However, this optimism does not negate the importance of responsible AI and regulation. Starting with pessimism rarely leads to optimistic outcomes.
