The Legend of Kip Hickman and the Birth of SSL

At Netscape, Kip Hickman solved the problem of getting an operating system to work on the SGI machine. As a result, he was tasked with securing the internet and he successfully implemented SSL. This marked the start of the internet surpassing Microsoft's proprietary network. In an alternate scenario, Microsoft planned to take a cut of every internet transaction. Additionally, the lack of an open smartphone platform led to a 30% tax on every application through the Apple store.
