Mitigating Heat Stress in Cattle: Limit Feeding and Shade

Limit feeding high-energy diets and providing shade were found to independently mitigate heat stress in calves. These practices resulted in increased average daily gain, improved feed efficiency, reduced water consumption, and lower panning scores. The study showed that both methods can be used together or independently, giving producers flexibility in managing heat stress. The size of the calves was not mentioned.
