Leverage Bitcoin's Strengths for Scalable L2 Solutions
Building Layer 2 (L2) solutions on the Bitcoin blockchain significantly differs from those on Ethereum due to Bitcoin's lack of programmability and established security framework. The upcoming Nakamoto release for Stacks aims to secure transactions using 100% of Bitcoin's hash power, thereby enhancing transaction security and making it nearly impossible to reverse transactions without attacking Bitcoin miners. Additionally, the Stacks ecosystem seeks to tap into Bitcoin's trillion-dollar capital, which largely remains inactive, by facilitating the movement of Bitcoin from Layer 1 (L1) to L2 through a mechanism called SPDC. This approach avoids the challenges faced by new ecosystems that must bootstrap their own economies and security frameworks. Instead, it leverages Bitcoin's existing strengths to create a more robust and scalable L2 environment.
