The culture of a group is defined as its accumulated shared learning in addressing internal and external challenges. This culture shapes the perceptions, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors of new members, who adopt it as the valid way of understanding their environment. Consequently, a group’s shared learning becomes ingrained as a system of beliefs, values, and behavioral norms that are often taken for granted over time. As these cultural assumptions solidify, they transition into basic assumptions, ultimately becoming unconscious. The goal within organizations, teams, or any cohesive unit is to cultivate a culture so deeply embedded that it influences behavior without conscious deliberation.
