Diets are highly profitable for those selling them, including diet books and doctors with their own diet plans and supplements. While some doctors receive kickbacks that can influence their prescribing behavior, the majority do not, and for most physicians, what they talk to patients about does not affect their pay. The safety profile of drugs ending in 'azole' varies, with topicals being different from oral fluconazole, which is considered incredibly safe even for long-term use.
