The Symbolic World

NOTE

Trust is the Root of Truth

Understanding the distinction between sense and truth hinges on the role of trust in our cognitive processes. This trust manifests in our memories and feelings, guiding our perceptions toward what we recognize as truth. The distinction between assertions, such as mathematical truths, relies heavily on a fundamental feeling that precedes logical conviction. This process is phenomenological, emphasizing that beauty, or the aesthetic quality of experiences, often comes before truth. Furthermore, an atheist perspective tends to default to a third-person viewpoint, which can obscure personal experiences and limit access to first-person truths like consciousness and free will. Engaging in a first-person exploration of experiences reveals that our identification of truth is inherently tied to our feelings, underscoring the necessity of trusting these personal faculties.
