The condition involves endometrial tissue growing outside the uterus, leading to severe pain, fatigue, and infertility problems. Diagnosis is challenging, often requiring surgery and taking an average of 10 years to confirm. Lack of awareness and misinterpretation of symptoms pose hurdles in obtaining a timely diagnosis. Currently, there is no known cure for endometriosis. However, ongoing research, such as a promising clinical trial at the University of Edinburgh, offers hope for the development of new drugs for treatment.
