Navigating the Middle Passage of Life

Transitioning from an ego-centered perspective to understanding the self and the internal intelligence seeking developmental growth can lead to challenging life choices, new directions, and endings and beginnings. This in-between stage, known as the middle passage, is marked by the exhaustion of the current psychological roadmap and the absence of a clear way forward. It involves holding together external responsibilities while also exploring internal callings and discord. The middle passage signifies a phase in life where the familiar ways no longer work, and something new is seeking expression. It is a humbling and frightening period that can be triggered by events like divorce, job loss, illness, aging, or retirement. Regardless of chronological age, individuals are compelled to take their lives seriously in a fresh light and embark on a new path.
