Understanding Functional Neuroimaging and Neurophysiology in FMD
Functional neuroimaging and neurophysiology have revealed significant insights into the occurrence of FMD over the past few decades. Research has shown differences in brain oxygen consumption between FMD patients and actors simulating symptoms. MRI experiments have identified dysfunctional brain circuits, particularly in the sense of agency, shedding light on the neural mechanisms underlying FMD symptoms.
