Colonialism manifests in two distinct models: governance by a small foreign elite, and large-scale settlement, with profound implications for native populations. In the British model, a limited number of English ruled over millions of Indians, making rebellion against this colonial structure more straightforward. Conversely, the American and Canadian experiences illustrate a tragic narrative of successful settlement from the perspective of European settlers, which resulted in the near-total displacement of indigenous peoples through violence and cultural destruction. As a result, over 95% of the current populations in these regions descend from non-indigenous ancestors, highlighting the drastic demographic transformations driven by colonial policies.
