NOTE

**The emotional compass **

The concept of the emotional compass revolves around two primary axes: pleasantness and energy. The pleasantness axis measures the degree of enjoyment or discomfort one feels at any moment, influencing how individuals approach their day and interactions. It differentiates between feeling safe and comfortable versus uncomfortable, emphasizing that pleasantness is about emotional experience rather than moral judgment of good or bad. The energy axis, described as activation, represents the level of mental and physical energy, indicating how energized or deactivated a person feels. Together, these axes form a mood meter with four quadrants: high pleasantness and high energy signify happiness and excitement; low pleasantness with high energy can suggest agitation or disturbance; low pleasantness and low energy reflect feelings of sadness or lethargy; and high pleasantness with low energy indicates calmness and peace. Understanding these dimensions can help individuals map their emotional states and navigate their feelings more effectively.
