The Scapegoating Process: Guilt and Innocence

The guilt of a scapegoat doesn't matter in the scapegoating process, as a guilty scapegoat makes it easier for people to transfer their own guilt. This ancient ritual can cause people to not deal with systemic problems and be under the illusion that their problems are banished. The sins of the people are symbolically transferred onto a goat, as in Leviticus.
