The Dilemma of Placebos: Instilling Faith or Honesty?
"In terms of that pathway, you should get the same effects. I still don't know how to handle that situation. If people had equal faith in the blue pill as the pink pill, it would be just as good. It's a tricky topic, the placebo effect. It's dishonest not to tell people they're placebos, but it reduces efficacy. As long as the doctors know, it's fine if the patient doesn't. But if it limits the effect, is it like a painkiller for someone with a terminal illness?"
