In the 1970s, big diversified companies like GE were advised to sell high-growth divisions that were unlikely to become market leaders and profitable. BCG and Bowne Company recommended getting out while it's good. The expression "a cat's chance in hell" is questioned, as "snowball's chance in hell" is more commonly used.

Richard Koch (@RichardKoch8020) is an entrepreneur, investor, former strategy consultant, and author of several books on business and ideas, including four on how to apply the 80/20 principle in all walks of life.
