NOTE

UV radiation, sun exposure, and eyesight development in kids

Excessive UV radiation can cause DNA strand breaks and potentially lead to cancer, but avoiding all UV exposure is also not ideal. People living in hot climates like the Middle East and India often cover up to protect themselves from the sun's rays, but it's still important to get some sun exposure for various bodily processes. For instance, studies have shown that kids who don't get enough UV radiation on their eyes are more likely to develop myopia. In a Chinese study, it was found that getting three to four hours of sunlight each day as a child can help prevent the need for glasses. So, while we don't want to overdo it, a little bit of sun on our skin and eyes can be beneficial.
